Toronto Business College (TBC) supports the closely aligned principles of transparency and accountability and as such routinely provides public access to information about TBC’S operations and decisions.

At the same time, Toronto Business College is committed to protecting specific types of information, which, if disclosed, could reasonably be expected to result in harm to Toronto Business College, an identifiable individual, or a third party. This subset of information includes personal information, teaching and research records, as well as law enforcement, labor relations and other kinds of information which for the purposes of this policy will be referred to as “restricted information”.

This policy and the related Procedures shall be maintained and updated on an ongoing basis by Toronto Business College.

Collection of Personal Information

Toronto Business College (TBC) only obtains specific personal information, such as your name, phone number or email address if specifically provided by the website user when completing an online web form, submit an email to TBC with such information or register on the Toronto Business College website. Toronto Business College does not share personal information that is provided voluntarily through web forms or other means, including standard web server log files unless stated otherwise (see Use of Personal Information). If you have supplied your email address, Toronto Business College or any third party service provider may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, request your feedback, or just keep you up to date about TBC and its products.

Use of Personal Information

Personal information is collected under the legal authority of The Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002, S.O. 2002. This information is used for the academic, administrative, employment-related, financial, statistical and other appropriate purposes of Toronto Business College (TBC).

Student information collected by Toronto Business College may be used, among other things, to admit, register and graduate students, record academic achievement, issue identity cards and, where applicable, facilitate local transit passes, to provide access to information technology systems and to operate academic, financial, athletic, recreational and other TBC programs.

Toronto Business College uses a secure and online platform to facilitate certain online tests and exams. Students will be notified if their webcam, microphone and computer screen are being monitored and/or viewed by authorized TBC employees in order to ensure the integrity of the test or exam. Students will be informed if they are being recorded, the purpose of the recording and who will have access to the recordings.

The majority of personal information processing happens in Canada, however, if Toronto Business College has a contract with a third-party service provider that is based in another country TBC may be required to transfer personal data to a third country or international organization. In transferring personal data, Toronto Business College will employ suitable safeguards to protect the privacy and security of the personal information so that it is only used in a manner consistent with the individual’s relationship with Toronto Business College and this Notice.
