Course Overview

Discover the reality of modern IT with our ‘Cloud Administration & Architecture’ course. While many organizations aim for the public cloud, most established businesses operate in a hybrid world, relying on existing systems in their own data centers. At TBC, we designed this course to help you establish a strong “on-premises baseline” with VMware vSphere before building the crucial bridge to public cloud platforms.

Whether you are transitioning from traditional IT or looking to specialize in hybrid environments, you will master the “how-to” of cloud administration using Microsoft Azure. You will dive into configuring identity governance, secure virtual networks, resilient storage, and modern compute options ranging from virtual machines to container orchestration and serverless functions.

By completing this course, you will make the critical conceptual pivot from an Administrator to an Architect. You will leverage Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Well-Architected Framework to design scalable, highly available solutions, ensuring business continuity while optimizing cloud economics and FinOps.

Course Breakdown

  • Deploy on-premises VMware vSphere environments and establish secure hybrid connectivity using Azure ExpressRoute or VPNs.

  • Implement robust identity and governance frameworks using Microsoft Entra ID, Resource Groups, and Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to enforce the Principle of Least Privilege.

  • Build secure virtual networks (VNets) and provision appropriate cloud storage, databases, and compute resources.

  • Apply the AWS Well-Architected Framework to design 3-Tier Web Applications, decoupled microservices, and global delivery networks.

  • Evaluate cloud economics by comparing CapEx vs. OpEx models and calculating Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for architectural designs.

Establish your “on-premises baseline” by mastering VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter Server. You will learn the concepts of the Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC) and build the crucial hybrid network bridge to Microsoft Azure using Site-to-Site VPNs and ExpressRoute.

Establish the foundational pillars of cloud security. You will organize resources using Subscriptions, manage hybrid identities with Microsoft Entra ID, and enforce access controls using RBAC. Next, you will construct secure Virtual Networks (VNets), configure Network Security Groups (NSGs), and deploy appropriate storage tiers and databases

Deploy and scale your workloads in the cloud. You will provision Azure Virtual Machines (IaaS), configure load balancing for high availability, and automate deployments using Infrastructure as Code (ARM templates). Move up the stack to explore modern compute solutions, including PaaS (Azure App Service), container orchestration (ACI, AKS), and serverless event-driven architecture (Azure Functions).

Ensure your cloud environment remains healthy and accessible. You will implement centralized monitoring and alerts using Azure Monitor, and protect critical data through Azure Backup and Disaster Recovery (ASR) planning. Additionally, you will administer SaaS components in Microsoft 365, manage modern endpoints with Intune, and synchronize hybrid identities using Microsoft Entra Connect.

Make the critical pivot from Administrator to Architect. Utilizing Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the Well-Architected Framework, you will design resilient 3-Tier architectures, global delivery networks, and decoupled microservices. Finally, you will master Cloud Financial Operations (FinOps) by comparing TCO, evaluating CapEx versus OpEx, and optimizing cloud costs to align with business value.
